Brittany is the current Director of the College of Charleston’s Information Technology (IT) Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and the Vice President of Member Services for the Project Management Institute (PMI) Charleston Chapter. Brittany’s passion is in strategizing and implementing structure to reduce chaos and increase efficiency. This passion is rooted in her previous experience restructuring departments, building programs, and streamlining processes to align more closely with business objectives. Prior to moving to Charleston, Brittany led various efforts and teams across the healthcare industry in some of the most complex and challenging business environments. These have included working with Kaiser Permanente, Dubai Health Authority, and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, where she architected and implemented custom Electronic Health Record (EHR) and security solutions. At Epic Systems, Brittany directed Certification Management and used Lean methodology to standardize customer service and incident management workflows across its 23 departments resulting in new processes, procedures and policies. In 2018, Brittany became the Portfolio Manager for the Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) facility expansion- to include the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion.

Brittany obtained her undergraduate degree from Stonehill College in Easton, MA and is PMP, ITIL, and Lean Six Sigma Certified.

In her spare time, Brittany enjoys exploring the outdoors or traveling to new locations. Some of her favorite hobbies include kayaking, hiking, boating, reading, and attending local events.

Since Mary’s transition in mid-2017 into her current role as Senior Business Analyst within IT at the College of Charleston (the College), she has participated in a variety of projects, including introducing the DiversityEDU course to first year students, and successfully implementing, among others, a new supporting software for the College’s CougarAlert and ORGA’s new research compliance review and reporting. She is currently studying for the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification, recognized internationally as the highest level of certification for a business analyst.

Prior to shifting into the BA role, Mary was the Business Intelligence Architect where she managed a team who helped run the College’s primary reporting database and reporting tool, Cognos. While in that role, she was asked by Educause to write an article for the online Educause Review. She selected the topic the keys to effective team leadership, and it was published in October 2016. In the eight years she led the business intelligence effort at the College, she oversaw and participated in many projects from the original implementation of the reporting environment to upgrades and customizations.

Mary earned her B.S., graduating Magna Cum Laude, and M.B.A. degrees from Charleston Southern University (CSU) where she worked from 2001 – 2008 before transitioning to the College of Charleston in January of 2009. Throughout her tenure at CSU, she worked in a variety of roles within IT and the Advancement Division. She held such roles as helpdesk technician, server administrator, application administrator, programmer, business analyst, and Director of Operations. During her time as Director, she managed personnel and budgets across the Advancement Division while designing and instituting significant business process changes to their use of their ERP. She earned kudos from the financial auditors for the new money handling policy and procedures she wrote and implemented.

Mary has actively volunteered with several community and professional groups. Currently her focus has been with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) where she volunteers to help with organizing and hosting local speaker and networking events, as a teacher for those studying for IIBA certification, and on the nominations committee for IIBA Palmetto Chapter board members. As a volunteer at her church and for the Diocese of South Carolina, she led the congregation to become a top church in donations to Episcopal Relief & Development and the diocese to be a leader among all diocese, as well. Its funding supports short term and long-term responses to disasters, along with ending violence against women and encouraging their economic stability, promoting health among children, and encouraging adaptation and resilience to climate change. She also participates in and enjoys attending any event to raise money for local animal shelters. 

Originally from Kentucky, this Kentucky Colonel enjoys playing and watching all kinds of sports, attending rock concerts, and travelling domestically and internationally. She resides in West Ashley with her handsome and exuberant Boykin Spaniel rescue, Beau.

Graduating with a B.S. in Operations Management at Penn State and an M.S. in Accounting Information Systems at the University of Maryland, Tom has a diverse system development background. Prior to joining us at the College of Charleston, Tom worked at several companies on major projects in the Washington, DC area. For example, under the Health and Human Services Department, Tom led a project that garnished income, wages, and insurance awards to secure millions in child support dollars that was then diverted to custodial parents who greatly benefited from it. Transitioning to Fannie Mae, Tom led a Business to Business Gateway deployment and re-engineered the single family product line. Also, while working at the Maryland Department of Corrections, Tom implemented an Inmate Activity Scheduling System for use at dozens of facilities.

Tom was hired by the College of Charleston as a contractor for the IT department in October 2018, before accepting a full-time position as a Senior Business Analyst in the Fall 2019. Tom's role involves partnering with campus organizations and Information Technology staff to drive system, quality, and process improvements across campus. Since joining the College, he has worked on many different projects. Most notably, he has conducted extensive training sessions and established numerous documents for Business Analyst and Project Manager use in the department. He has also worked on a wide-scale space management project charter, and has generated three Requests for Proposal to seek vendor software solutions.

Tom is a Certified Business Analysis Professional, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified Blockchain Technical Specialist, and Masters Certified in Project Management. He is working on obtaining his Blockchain Strategic Specialist certification, and has recently published a white paper entitled, "Business Analysis in the Blockchain Age" for a worldwide organization.

Tom has also published hundreds of articles about the Summer and Winter Olympics. In doing so, he has also attended ten Olympic Games and interviewed over a hundred of the world’s top athletes.

Jill Tartaglini

Business Analyst

Jill began her career in business analysis working at Blue Shield of California. She’s held roles of Intermediate Systems Analyst, Senior Systems Analyst, as well as Senior and Lea Business Analyst. During her tenure at Blue Shield, she worked on two large scale projects. Her most notable is when she worked on transitioning ICD-9 Diagnosis Codes to ICD-10 Diagnosis Codes, which involved the modification of more than 100 different programs. Jill also worked on a project to migrate a purchased health plan and all of it’s components to a new system. 

Following an extensive career at Blue Shield, Jill joined us as a Business Analyst who has become involved in our campus’s new Access Control project to update wired and wireless locking mechanisms across the school in various buildings and areas. 

Outside of the office, Jill is studying for the CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) certification and enjoys watching her favorite teams play, the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Kings, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Originally from Connecticut, Zach’s professional career started and continues here at the College of Charleston. He graduated with the class of 2018 but began working as a Network Engineer while in school. Over time he began to take affinity to the business processes involved in IT solutions and took a shift to become a Business Analyst with our PMO department. He has been full time since the summer of 2019 and continues to learn and grow with us. 

Some notable projects he has worked on are the wireless upgrade project with the Networking team and a VOIP phone upgrade for the veterans hospital. Outside of work he enjoys reading and his favorite books are: Beach Music, Once We Were Brothers, and Bear Town.

Orlando is a student worker studying Arts Management with a concentration in Music Industry. His began his early career working in the Information Technology department January 2018. He helped facilitate meetings and department events and eventually moved to the PMO department in May 2018, where we worked on the Space Management project. By June 2019, he moved into a Student Business Analyst position, working alongside other Business Analysts in the department. Here he has worked on a Student Success and Retention Solution project, Information Technology Service Management project, and a Docusign project. He plans to graduate May 2021.

At College of Charleston, IT Project Manager Sandra is responsible for total project management including controlling budgets, managing risks, team development, and providing day-to-day communication with the project team to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget. A team player, Sandra holds an excellent track record of strong working relationships with vendors, faculty, staff, and engineers, resulting in successful experiences. She joined the Information Technology department in 2012.

With a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University, Sandra has over 12 years' experience overseeing all phases of projects, including infrastructure, higher education, and technology projects for both public and private sector. Other highlights of her work include transitioning her previous employer to VoIP, migrating their onsite server room to an offsite datacenter, and managing the company physical relocation.

At the College of Charleston, she has managed the implementation of the LiveSafe emergency broadcast notification system, assisted in the implementation of the Cougar Scholarship Award System (CSAS), and rolled out both Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems.

Sandra is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and recently became a Certified SAFe 4 Agilist (SA).

Outside of work Sandra enjoys photography, yoga and traveling. She can find peace and happiness on either the beach or hiking in the mountains.

Kathy has over 40 years experience of Software Development and IT Project Management for organizations including GM, Pan American Airways, Prodigy Service, the State of Texas, Dell, and a K-12 school district. With such a diverse background, she brings a new perspective to our team and our campus. 

While working for Prodigy, Kathy led a team that built and deployed the first ever online grocery shopping app. Then, while at Dell, Kathy managed and led a global development team with members in Austin, Nashville, Ireland, Malaysia, China, St. Petersburg, and Brazil. 

As of fall 2019, Kathy has joined the College of Charleston as a Project Manager where she hopes to use her MBA, PMP training, Lean Six Sigma - Green belt experience, as well as her extensive global knowledge to manage new IT solutions for the College. While she may have an abundance of knowledge, the only fish she’s managed to catch has been a piranha!

Nancy is an instinctive, thorough, and forward-thinking project manager with extensive experience implementing projects in higher education. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with 20+ years of experience in leadership, project management, communications, and operations. Nancy’s career in technology began at the College of Charleston, her alma mater, and continued at the South Carolina Department of Administration, Division of Technology.

Most recently, Nancy led project teams at The Citadel for Communications and Support Services, Auxiliary Enterprises, the Project Management Office (PMO) and Facilities and Engineering. Nancy has enjoyed executing projects that resulted in efficient operations, increased revenue, and enhanced customer satisfaction. She is a collaborative project leader with an excellent track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders, the campus community, and business leaders.

Nancy has worked on a multitude of projects through the course of her career. Most notably are the following:

  • Technology: Academic scheduling and facility optimization in the Event Management System (EMS), a master campus calendar, a Human Resources applicant tracking/onboarding system, and the Banner Document Management System (BDMS).

  • Institutional Planning: Events with high profile/VIP guests with major impacts on campus and the surrounding community. Most notable events include the 2007 Democratic Presidential Debate televised by CNN and sponsored by Google and YouTube and many events for political candidates.

  • Facilities: Renovation of The Citadel Canteen and The Cadet Laundry

After rejoining the College in spring of 2019, Nancy has been working diligently. Thus far, she has led an Event Ticketing and Donor Management solution project, IT Service Management solution project and a SC Enterprise Information System implementation based project. 

As a student at the College of Charleston, Nancy joined Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and served in two leadership roles for the organization. She was a member of the CofC Equestrian Team and was a three time competitor in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships.    

Nancy also has a depth of education, having been awarded an M.S. in Project Management from the Citadel, an M.A. in Biology from the Citadel, and a B.A. in Communications from the College of Charleston. She is also has a Certificate in Technical Project Management, a certified PMP, and Class of 2013 for Leadership South Carolina
