Routine Patch Process
On the 2nd Sunday of every month, Information Technology installs routine operating system and application patches on the servers and systems that we support. These patches are provided and installed to remediate security and application performance issues that vendors have identified as critical. In the event that a vendor identifies a severe issue, IT may choose to schedule an outage to immediately implement changes or patches as identified by the vendor. On an annual basis, IT sends an event reminder to identified application owners and groups that will automatically remind them when patches are going to be applied. IT then follows up with the application owners to remind them on a monthly basis a week before updates are scheduled to be installed. In some circumstances, installation can be delayed or rescheduled if the application owner has a significant scheduling conflict.
