MyCharleston

MyCharleston is your secure gateway to the College's online services. Logon with your COUGARS username and password, the same combination you use to log into campus computers, like the ones in Addlestone Library.

Purchasing Hardware or Software

Students may purchase hardware and software with an educational discount through particpating vendors.

Student Technology Center

The Student Technology Center is dedicated to high end video/audio/photo editing. It is equipped with two high-end Dell workstations and one PowerMac. It also has the capability to capture video from VHS tape to the computer to edit it and import into presentations. It is available through reservations only by contacting Frank Hamilton at 843.953.8090. Because of the specialized software involved, only limited help is available to students and its use is primarily up to the student to develop the skills to make use of it. Instruction manuals for the software installed are available in the room.

Laptop checkout Program

The Addlestone Library has a limited number of laptops available to students for internal use. Just come to the Circulation Desk in the Library and ask to check one out. All laptops have Microsoft Office and wireless capability. They do not, however, print. Laptop checkout hours are 7:30am to 11:00pm. They may be checked out for 4 hours at a time, and laptops must stay in the library and all laptops are must be turned in by 11:45pm. A validated College of Charleston ID is required.

Student Computing Support

The Student Computing Support Desk is an IT service point at the College of Charleston that offers technical support for students using computer technology. The goal of the support desk is to provide students with access to knowledgeable personnel and information and provide help to students with common maintenance tasks and questions (e.g. spyware/virus removal, general troubleshooting, and setup for the College's wireless network (not Cougar ResNet). We do not have the capability to do hardware repairs or upgrades.

The Student Support Desk is located in the computer section of the Addlestone Library. Students are welcome to bring their laptops to the desk anytime during operating hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact the Student Support Desk by email at StudentComputingSupport@cofc.edu or by phone at 843.953.5457.
