What You Need

• If you have a Macintosh with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger or greater and Apple Airport 3.0, you can get connected! Mac OS X Setup Documentation
• If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or greater and a wireless card, you should have everything you need. Windows XP Setup Documentation

Supported Products

• Wireless Cards

All major wireless vendors, such as Linksys, D-Link, etc. will work on the campus wireless network except Realtek wireless card supply by Gateway.

• Faculty & Staff: Contact Helpdesk at helpdesk@cofc.edu.
• Students: Contact Student Computing Support at StudentComputingSupport@cofc.edu.
  
  
• Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's)

  All users interested in connecting to the campus network using a PDA without integrated wireless must purchase PDAs that come with a PC card slot/sleeve and also purchase a wireless card. In addition, integrated or external wireless cards must support the WPA encryption standard.

Where to get it

• If you are a student, faculty, or staff member, and interested in purchasing a wireless device for your own personal use, please contact the manufacturer of your computer laptop (Dell, HP, Apple, etc.) for recommendations on compatible wireless cards.
• If you are a faculty or staff member, and interested in purchasing a wireless device through your department for college use, please contact Helpdesk.
